Pain treatments
The SCENAR is a hand held, electro-stimulation therapeutic medical device.
SCENAR therapy is unique because it interactively locates, measures and prompts problem areas in the body (asymmetries) through the skin to HELP RELIEVE PAIN AND RESTORE FUNCTION.
The SCENAR was approved for use in Australia after thorough research was undertaken by Macquarie University in 2004. Practitioners must be suitably trained and qualified in order to administer an assessment and treatment using the SCENAR.
Dr. Keith Scott-Mumby, writing in Virtual Medicine (London: Thorsons 1999), reports the

The device also greatly reduces recovery times. At the 2000 Olympics in Australia, the
SCENAR was called Russia’s "secret weapon,” allowing athletes to compete after sustaining
serious injuries.
In Russian accident and emergency wards, it is used to aid recovery from cardiac
arrest, massive trauma and coma. It has also proven beneficial in burns, fractures, insect bites, allergic reactions, immune disorders, depression and other mental afflictions, dental problems, and skin conditions.
The SCENAR uses mild electrical pulses (that are similar to the electrical pulses that exist in your body) to trigger your nervous system. The readings generated by the SCENAR allow us to pin-point the causes of pain and other conditions, enabling us to offer the appropriate treatment.
SCENAR Therapy is unique because it interacts with your body's own natural healing processes. It stimulates your nervous system to begin healing the affected areas of your body, in turn reducing pain and restoring normal function.
SCENAR Therapy is non-invasive and extremely gentle (it works through your skin), making it suitable to treat problems anywhere in the body.
The most pronounced and immediate effect after treatments using SCENAR therapy is pain relief. The SCENAR stimulates a change in nerve signals, which often results in the reduction of pain and an increase in healing signals.
The SCENAR can be useful for acute skin conditions such as wounds, rashes, abrasions and burns by accelerating the skin's healing process.
It is also useful in chronic conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, acne and psoriasis as it treats the underlying cause. Clients generally experience a reduction in the pain, inflammation and itching of these skin conditions, and because the SCENAR stimulates healing, treatment can also improve or restore the skin's appearance.
During treatment, the recipient feels only a gentle tingling or stroking sensation, as the device is run over the spine, abdomen, infected area or other relevant portions of bare skin.
The device sends electrical signals, records the resistive response, and uses its sophisticated software to return a freshly modulated signal.
The practitioner determines where to apply the device by looking for anomalies on the skin surface, indicated by redness, numbness, stickiness or a change in sound from the device. These areas may not seem to be directly related to the symptoms for which treatment is sought, but the experience indicates that the healing process is commenced by treating these "asymmetries.”
Depending on the diagnosis from the SCENAR, your individual condition and your body's response to the treatment, the course of treatments will vary.
Acute problems respond well to frequent treatments (eg. 3-4 times per week), whereas chronic problems may require a gentler more prolonged course of treatments (eg. once a week for 6-10 weeks).
